2 days The Spirit of Mekong Delta

Ho Chi Minh City, Cai Be, Can Tho, Ben Tre, Ho Chi Minh City

Come and share our passion for this beautiful destination. Experience the tranquil backwaters of the Mekong Delta staying in our delightful homestay and immersing ourselves in the timeless rural and riverside life as we travel by all manner of boats, bicycles and cars through this remarkable region. Discover all on this journey!

Day 1 Ho Chi Minh City / Cai Be / Can Tho
Departing from Ho Chi Minh City between 7.45am to 8.00am we drive south by private minibus for about more than two hours to Cai Be. When we arrive, we board a boat and explore the intricate waterways of the Mekong Delta, we pass through mango groves and fruit orchards.

Often referred to as ‘the rice bowl’ of Vietnam, the fertile delta is where rice, tropical fruit and flowers are grown for the whole country. The views along the canal are beautiful.

We stop at our pleasure to savour the delta's succulent crops and bring us into contact with the local people and get to see local life and the industries surrounding the river up close. We also take a bicycling ride along the banks of Mekong River.

The river banks are laden with coconut palms, rice fields, orchards and stilted houses and the water is teeming with boats of all shapes and sizes.

Next, we make our way to the floating of Cai Rang. Around sunset we take a stroll along the banks of Mekong River.

This evening we settle in with a hospitable local family to enjoy a wonderful meal of local specialities. The accommodation tonight is simple, but the experience is rewarding. (Lunch and dinner are included).

Day 2 Can Tho / Ben Tre / Ho Chi Minh City
Early in the morning we explore the floating market of Cai Rang where we observe the waterways and learn about the way of life in the delta.

Next, we journey to Ben Tre province. Here, we enjoy a leisure bicycling ride around the village, seeing the lush and verdant orchards stretched along the shores of river tributaries.

We navigate along the riverfront, down tiny lanes, through rural villages and beyond.

Here, water buffaloes lumber and graze on the grass, local people tend their fruit crops and kids greet us warmly.

Finally, we settle in with a local family for a delicious lunch. Perhaps we paddle kayaks through small and peaceful canals. This is one of the best ways to experience the waterways in the Mekong Delta.

Later, we board our minibus for a return journey to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving there late in the afternoon. (Breakfast and lunch are included).
