2 days Lan Ha Bay Explorer
Day 1: Hanoi - Cat Ba Island - Lan Ha Bay - Overnight Stay aboard
Our expedition begins between 7:15am - 7:30am from your hotel in the Old Quarter, heading to Cat Ba Island. We'll make a quick stop before boarding a ferry, continuing our journey to the dock where our Lan Ha Bay adventure truly begins. Upon arrival, we'll climb aboard a traditional junk-style boat, known for its beautiful woodwork and friendly crew, and set sail into the emerald waters of Lan Ha Bay.
Lan Ha is home to one of Vietnam's great natural treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The bay is adorned with sandy coves, grottoes, and numerous limestone islands sculpted over millennia by wind and water erosion. As our cruise delves deeper into the bay, we'll be treated to unforgettable views of scattered islands and towering limestone karsts slowly unfold while indulging in a seafood lunch prepared by our onboard chef.
We'll have time to explore either Ba Trai Dao or Ho Ba Ham, depending on weather and tides. Ba Trai Dao, translated as "Three Peaches," is a cluster of three small islands located in Lan Ha Bay, part of the larger Halong Bay area in Vietnam. These islands are renowned for their pristine white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and stunning natural scenery.
Ho Ba Ham, also known as Three Tunnel Lake, is a scenic and secluded spot nestled within Halong Bay, a stunning part of the larger Halong Bay area in Vietnam. This hidden gem is cherished for its tranquil waters, towering limestone cliffs, and lush greenery. What sets Ho Ba Ham apart are its three picturesque lagoons, connected by narrow tunnels carved through the limestone karsts, depending on weather and tides. Ho Ba Ham provide unique opportunities for kayaking to get up close to the dramatic limestone scenery. If weather permits, a refreshing swim in the clear emerald waters awaits.
As the day draws to a close, our boat gracefully navigates the bay as we witness the sun setting over the magnificent landscape. We can even try our hand at making delicious traditional Vietnamese spring rolls and other dishes. Dinner will be a memorable experience as we dine on the deck of the boat by candlelight. Afterwards, we can engage in squid fishing (seasonal) or paddle our kayaks to witness incredible bioluminescent plankton in the bay. (Lunch and dinner included)
Day 2: Lan Ha Bay - Viet Hai Village - The Floating Village of Beo - Hanoi
Wake up to the gentle rocking of the boat and a breathtaking sunrise over the karst formations. We start our day with some morning Tai Chi exercises on the sundeck or paddle our kayaks to explore hidden gems and secluded lagoons, depending on the weather and tides. After breakfast on board we arrive at the former fishing village of Viet Hai.
From here we enjoy a bicycle ride across the village, the best way to see all the sights, lush surroundings, and breathtaking sea views. Those who are keen on adventure can take a short hike into the national park of Viet Hai. Upon returning to our waiting boat, we resume our voyage to the enchanting floating village of Beo. Nestled in Lan Ha Bay, this fishing village rests gracefully atop emerald waters, surrounded by verdant limestone karst formations. Home to approximately 200 homes. The villagers make a living from fishing and aquaculture.
As we approach the village, we'll have the opportunity to observe the daily rhythms of life here. Around noon, our boat returns to the dock and the journey towards Hanoi begins. This trip takes around 3.5 hours (approximately 4.30) where we will be dropped off at our hotel. (Brreakfast and lunch are included)
