Oct 2019
I had 2 aunts, 2 uncles and my dad come on holiday to see me in Vietnam last October. Due to the age of my family and certain issues with accessibility in terms of walking as well as certain foods we could/couldn't eat, we asked a lot from Ethnic Travel - and they delivered. I have to say that overall Ethnic Travel were brilliant, and made my family feel so welcomed and at ease. I researched a lot before the holiday (we travelled around Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An and Ha Giang) and went to various travel agencies. Ethnic Travel were by far the most professional and helpful. I highly recommend travelling with them.

We found Ethnic Travel on the internet and were impressed with their website and the range of tours. We also like their ethos of low impact tourism and supporting the community. We received prompt email replies to our enquiries and soon sorted out an itinerary (North West Adventure) with trekking and home stays and getting off the beaten track. When we arrived in Hanoi we visited the office and were welcomed in a very friendly and professional manner. The tour exceeded our expectations. Ethnic Tours looked after us extremely well. We had an excellent guide Su from Sappa, who looked after us so well, she was great fun and full of knowledge of the local people and countryside, including telling us all about the crops being grown and the medicinal properties of plants. Our driver, Ming, was also excellent, driving calmly and safely despite some of the bad roads and chaotic traffic. The homestays varied but our hosts were always welcoming and looked after us extremely well. The food was always plentiful and extremely tasty. We also loved the breakfasts of pancakes and fruit. The homestays at Te Village and Hang Village were excellent and we also liked our stay at the lodge at Yen Mo which had lovely rooms and a beautiful garden and we enjoyed helping to cook our supper. We then went on a two day one night trip to Bai Tu Long Bay and Quan Island this was great fun, we enjoyed the boat trip, kayaking and cycle ride. In retrospect, given the distances, we wished we had booked two nights for this trip. When we arrived back in Hanoi we were taken to the MK Hotel (arranged by Ethnic)for our last night and day. This is a really lovely hotel in the heart of the old quarter, the rooms were excellent, spacious and very comfortable and quiet, even though they were located in the middle of bustling old quarter There was also a spa where I enjoyed a wonderful massage and a lovely rooftop bar. Ethnic also arranged for a driver and car to take us back to the airport. We were really impressed with Ethnic Travel with there care and attention to details and are very grateful to then for making our trip so memorable.
