12 days A Glimpse of Vietnam
Hanoi, Cuc Phuong National Park, Bai Tu Long Bay, Hoi An, My Son, Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 1 Arrival
Upon our arrival we have a pick-up. This is followed by our short transfer to our hotel in the Old Quarter. The rest of our time is spent on our own.
Day 2 Hanoi
Sightseeing in Hanoi, to get a feel for the country and its recent past we start with the Ho Chi Minh complex. The complex is dedicated to Vietnam's hero Ho Chi Minh, who is greatly honoured for his role in liberating Vietnam from colonial rule.
The Temple of Literature, founded in 1070, is our next port of call, this beautiful temple was Vietnam's first University.
Lunch is just across the road at KOTO - a great restaurant set up with the intention to train former street kids and help them start a career.
In the afternoon let's take a meander through Old Hanoi, visiting a local market where we can pick up plenty of fresh produce if we so desire, fresh fish and wonderful fruits are often on offer.
We are thinking of celebrating our first night together in a restaurant very special to Hanoi's heart. It serves such a great fish dish that it is the only item on the menu! (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 3 Hanoi / Cuc Phuong National Park
Our journey begins as we set off to Cuc Phuong National Park, which is located in Ninh Binh province and covers over 200 sq km. This is Vietnam’s most famous park.
Upon our arrival we visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre in the park to see the conservation efforts being made to save the endangered Langur, a primate species.
This is followed by a short hike in the rainforest, which offers some wildlife viewing. The night is spent in a comfortable guest house in the Park’s headquarters, which are surrounded by spectacular mountains and rainforest. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 4 Cuc Phuong National Park / Bai Tu Long Bay
Departing Cuc Phuong National Park we journey to Ha Long City. We follow its fertile road through flatlands of the delta flanked by endless green carpets of rice paddies.
We then head north to Ha Long City. Shortly after lunch, we embark on a boat trip among the spectacular limestone peaks.
For those who are energetic and relish a close view of the scenic rock formations can climb aboard our kayaks for a leisurely exploration of the bay – time to relax and appreciate the sublime beauty of the bay.
On Cai Rong Island we stay overnight in a hotel. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 5 Bai Tu Long Bay / Hanoi
Cai Rong is located in Bai Tu Long Bay. The island’s main assets comprise gorgeous beaches and lush jungle vegetation interspersed with patches of cultivated land.
Local farmers plant seasonal crops on their own plots and make a living from fishing offshore and gathering ocean creatures!
Cycling is one of the best ways to explore the island. We cycle across the island and appreciate some of the island's truly awesome scenery – vertical and unusual rocks and islets emerge from the sea.
In the early afternoon we drive back to Hanoi, arriving there at about 5pm. (Breakfast and lunch are included).
Day 6 Hanoi / Danang / Hoi An / My Son
A short flight brings us to Danang. This is followed by our short journey to My Son Temples. From here we explore its temples, the very former capital of the ancient Cham civilization that ruled central Vietnam between the second century and the thirteenth century. (Breakfast and lunch are included).
Day 7 Hoi An
There is something in Hoi An for everyone, from historical architecture to art galleries and excellent shopping. Weather permitting, there is time for us to relax on the beautiful beach. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 8 Hoi An / Danang / Ho Chi Minh City
On this day we take a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. In the early afternoon, we drive for 2 hours to Cu Chi district.
Here, we wander around its surroundings and villages and spend time interacting with the local people and extended delightful foray into the areas and its surroundings, orchards, admire the beauty of its people, before we visit the incredible tunnels which stretched over 250km from Saigon to the Cambodian border.
At the height of its existence, amid the tunnel system was three levels deep. Then we return to Ho Chi Minh City for our accommodation for the night in a hotel. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 9 Ho Chi Minh City / Mekong Delta
From Ho Chi Minh City we drive to Vinh Long where we board our boats to venture into the green, watery world of the Mekong Delta.
We visit bonsai gardens, various cottage industries and fruit orchards. The night is spent in a hotel in the township of Vinh Long. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 10 Mekong Delta
This morning we enjoy a delightful boat trip to explore the tributaries of the Mekong River then to Cai Be, where we observe the floating markets and learn about the way of life in the delta.
In the afternoon we drive to Ben Tre province, home to lush fruit orchards, rivers and a former stronghold of Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.
This evening we settle in with a hospitable and friendly local family for a dinner and an overnight stay. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 11 Mekong Delta / Ho Chi Minh City
We continue our discovery of the delta by boating on the Hau river, and cycling along its banks, passing through mangroves and fruit orchards, stopping at our pleasure to savour the delta's succulent crops and bring us into contact with local people.
Following that we board our vehicle and drive back to Ho Chi Minh City. Here, we have some free time for some exploration of the city, before we conclude our trip with a farewell dinner in one of the city’s best restaurants. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Day 12 Ho Chi Minh City
We can depart at any time today. (Breakfast is included).
Our itinerary includes easy walks, hiks, kayaks and bicycle rides. They include:
- a 9-12 km walk on Day 1.
- an 8-14 km walk on Day 2.
- a 1-2 hour kayak ride on Day 4.
- a 12-15 bicycle ride on Day 5.
- a 14-16 bicycle ride on Day 11.
Our experienced Tour Guides speak excellent English.
They are xtremely knowledgeable about local cultures, history and the environment.

We choose local ingredients, typical of the way people eat in the area, at local restaurants, homes or markets.
We also cater for Vegetarians but please request this at time of booking.
